Confirmed club activities – 1st & 2nd October 2016

Please see below confirmation of this weekend’s rides. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to lead this weekend. We have a new leader for Sunday D ride this week – Simon Riding.

There are four cancellations of social rides this weekend (Sat: B, Sun: A, B & C) and neither of the non-stop
training rides have leaders so will also be cancelled.

If you normally take part in a ride that has removed from the calendar there are three options for you to ride with the club:

  • Come to the station and drop down to the next ride in the calendar (unless you were planning to ride the D ride), e.g. A=> B, B=>C, etc… If you drop down a ride, then you should ride at the slower pace of that ride so as not to disrupt the pace of the ride you are joining. Other members are joining rides which have leaders, are expecting to ride at the pace they are comfortable with and it is unreasonable for them to have to change their plans
  • You can step-up to the next ride in the calendar (unless you were planning to ride the A ride), e.g. from C=>B, B=>A, etc… In this case you should attempt to ride at the pace of the ride you are stepping up to – again so as not to disrupt the pace of the ride you are joining (as above, it is unreasonable to expect people expecting to ride at a certain pace to change their plans) and should be prepared to drop off the ride if you cannot hold the pace of the ride you are stepping up to
  • You can arrive at the station with a route for the pace you would like to ride and lead the ride so that people who ride at the same pace as you do not have to feel they are riding too slowly or too quickly

Mudguards
We’re now at the time of year when the weather is starting to turn and roads become wet. As a reminder for existing members and info for all the new members we have gained this year through October mudguards are optional on club rides (but should be used if it has rained in the preceding 24 hours) and will be mandatory on all rides from 1st November until the end of February. If you don’t yet have mudguards fitted you can buy from local bike stores with whom we have discount arrangements (e.g. Broadribbs, Corleys) who will also be able to fit them for you. If you don’t have mudguards fitted you will be asked to stay at the back of the ride to save other riders being covered in spray.
