Please see below confirmation of this weekend’s rides. Saturday’s rides are to Turweston.
There are five ride (sort of) cancellations this weekend – the Sunday social rides. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to lead this weekend – you make the club work.
Sunday is the annual club hill climb – see details below.
Make sure you are covered
Participation in Bicester Millennium club rides and events is strictly at your own risk and liability. You are strongly advised to obtain 3rd Party Liability Insurance. You can do this easily by taking out membership of either British Cycling or CTC. Both of these provide the required Insurance AND they support cycling throughout Britain. Also please make yourself aware of the BMCC Club rides protocol. These can be found along with many other useful bits of information on the following link – https://www.bmcc2000.com/bmcc-all-rides/bmcc-club-ride-protocol/

Sunday 12th November 2017
NOTE: social rides are cancelled today. Instead we will be running a combined roll-out ride to the hill climb which I will lead.
Roll out ride start: 9AM
Hill climb start: 10AM
Hill climb: Up Brill Hill, from Chilton junction Strava segment
Prize categories for Seniors (M & W), Vets (M & W) & Vet50s (M & W). This event is for club members only and is free to enter.
Once the hillclimb is done and dusted then it’s off to Chez Amies (Corble Farm) for the junior hillclimb followed by the prize giving and social. https://goo.gl/maps/gA853dvWu7u
All the social rides are welcome at Simon and Mimis place, where hotdogs, soup, cakes, hot (and cold) drinks will be available – planned from 10:45 onwards. Simon has promised a fire pit for some warmth!
One thing we would like is some cake donations. If you’re feeling up for it, then get your baking game face on.
If you’d prefer to drive over, then there is plenty of parking at Corble Farm.
Weather forecast is looking chilly but sunny. Our current holders of the hillclimb trophies are unfortunately otherwise engaged on Sunday, so grab your chance!
Finally, if you would like to have a jacket/other warm clothing taken to Brill please bring them to the BLC car park for the start of the roll out ride and Tim Beaven will take them in his car.
Juniors & Coaching
Session Theme: MTB skills
Please come suitably dressed for the weather conditions, with helmet, gloves, drink and a road worthy bicycle. If the session is going to be cancelled due to poor weather, we will send out an email early Saturday morning.
What to do in the event of ride cancellations
If you plan to take part in a ride that has removed from the calendar there are three options for you to ride with the club:
- Come to the station and drop down to the next ride in the calendar (unless you were planning to ride the D ride),
e.g. Fast A=>Mid A, B=>C, etc… If you drop down a ride, then you should ride at the slower pace of that ride so as not to disrupt the pace of the ride you are joining. Other members are joining rides which have leaders, are expecting to ride at the pace they are comfortable with and it is unreasonable for them to have to change their plans - You can step-up to the next ride in the calendar (unless you were planning to ride the Fast A ride), e.g. from C=>B, B=>Mid A, etc… In this case you should attempt to ride at the pace of the ride you are stepping up to – again so as not to disrupt the pace of the ride you are joining. As above, it is unreasonable to expect people expecting to ride at a certain pace to change their plans and you should be prepared to drop off the ride if you cannot hold the pace of the ride you are stepping up to.
- Arrive at the station with a route for the pace you would like to ride and lead the ride. We will have more leaders and rides and everyone will be able to ride at a pace with which they are comfortable.
* – if someone steps forward to lead in the interim I will update the calendar but may not get the time to update the website. Please keep an eye on the calendar on website homepage for updates.
