About us
Bicester Millennium Cycling Club was formed in 1999 in time, as its name suggests, for the new Millennium. The Club's current membership is an eclectic mix of sporting and leisure cyclist, "roadies" and "off roaders", across a range of ages and experience. The Club provides a focal point for cycling enthusiasts from Bicester, a rapidly growing town, and the surrounding areas of Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire.
There are Club road bike runs rides every Saturday and Sunday morning throughout the year at 09:00 hours starting from Bicester North Railway Station. There are also occasional off road rides: keep any eye on the Club’s Forum & rides calendar for details. See the Club Runs page for current information on both road and off road rides.
Bicester Millennium CC promotes a number of Open and Club time trial events during the summer months, with many of these taking place on the perimeter track at RAF Weston on the Green. The perimeter track provides a safe, virtually traffic free environment which has allowed the Club, in recent years, to promote, amongst other events, a very successful and popular four-up team time trial and the London West District GHS Championship.
We’re also pleased to announce that as of 2012, we are a British Cycling affiliated Go-Ride club, offering off road training for younger riders (hopeful Cavendish’s?). See the website for further details.
If you need some information not contained within this website please call or email one of our club officials listed on the Contact Us page who will be pleased to help.
Turn up and Ride!
If you're thinking of joining our club, you are welcome to turn up and join one of the club runs (see the forum for details). For more details see the forum and club runs list. Please note that the club caters mainly for those cyclists who have a serious interest in cycling. However, adult novices, of whatever age or fitness level, can be catered for and would be welcomed, particularly on our monthly Taster rides.
Road runs require a suitable road bike either racing or touring/audax style, mountain bike runs can be ridden on any suitable mountain bike but please note these runs can get very muddy!
Riders should be suitably equipped for the type of riding they are interested in, although helmets are not compulsory they should be worn for your own safety, and in the case of off-road riding are essential. Participation is at your own risk. If you need further advice please contact a club representative via the Contact Us page.
